The European Commission's proposal for the next long-term EU budget makes it easier for EU countries and regions to invest in housing.

The Commission has just launched a comprehensive public consultation to gather input on the first-ever European Affordable Housing Plan. The consultation – which runs until 17 October - invites citizens, experts, stakeholders and public authorities to have a say.
With strengthened energy independence, lower energy bills, and lower grid investment needs, the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive can also help making housing more affordable.
In the presence of Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, the European Commission has launched today the Housing Advisory Board, an expert group which is tasked with providing concrete, independent policy recommendation for the Commission to consider in preparing the European Affordable Housing Plan.

A total of 313 experts, organisations, and citizens have submitted their inputs to the Affordable Housing Plan, in the first round of the consultation process.
